Garage into a home office

An integral garage full of boxes turned into a warm, quiet office with a proper window.

Time on site

5 weeks

Budget band

Floor area

16 m²

Finished

June 2025

The empty garage stripped out, before the new floor went in

Before

The finished home office with a long desk, shelves and wide windows

After

The brief

Both owners work from home three days a week and were sharing the dining table. The garage was only used for storage.

What we did

We swapped the garage door for a brick infill with a wide window, raised and insulated the floor, dry-lined and insulated the walls and ceiling, and added two radiators off the existing heating. Plenty of sockets and a data cable from the router went in before plastering.

How it went

Five weeks, no planning needed, and building control signed it off on the first visit. The owners fitted the shelving themselves.
